Volvo Penta Forward Drive V8-FWD is a fully integrated package, powered by the 8-cylinder, 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter, freshwater-cooled, direct-injected gasoline engine with catalyst. Paired with the well-matched FWD Duoprop drive, this package provides versatility, reduced noise levels, lower emission levels, and strong acceleration.

The compact engine-drive design facilitates installation. With an aluminum cylinder block and head, low-friction, lightweight pistons, and a cast-aluminum oil pan, the engine provides an improved power-to-weight ratio.

The direct injection fuel system enables a high compression ratio, extracting more energy from each drop of fuel. This contributes to reduced fuel consumption and emission levels.

With variable valve timing, the movement of each intake and exhaust valve is adjusted for speed and load. This ensures consistent combustion across varying rpm, contributing to improved torque and acceleration throughout the rpm range.
